Just when the country braves the vagaries of the COVID pandemic, Iris Computers, India’s leading IT distributor, has bagged a large order for supplying 8,000 PCs to Kendriya Vidyalaya schools running across the country including North-East and Andaman & Nicobar.
On the IT distribution front, COVID pandemic has wrecked havoc. The contagion has severely disrupted the supply chains of distributors operational across India. The first quarter has proved to be very harsh for the distribution business in the country.
Delhi-headquartered Iris Computers, India’s leading IT distribution company, has not been an exception. Led by industry veteran, Sanjiv Krishen, the company came across tough moments when revenues touched unprecedented levels during the AMJ quarter.
But, by the end of the first quarter of 2020, things started changing, where work-from-home (WFH) and learn-from-home (LFH) culture became a new normal in the country. Enabled by better internet connectivity, people could carry on their work remotely. So was the case of students, who started attending their classes online. This paved the way for the rapid and large-scale adoption of online meeting platforms including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, BlueJeans by Verizon, Avaya Spaces, Google Meet and ZOHO Meeting in India.
Now, this WFH & LFH culture has created a new situation, where demands for PCs and mobile devices have gone up. This has brought in business opportunities to IT distributors, and channels at large.

It is this context, which has given Iris Computers an opportunity to supply a large number of PCs to education institutions. Quite recently, Iris Computers has bagged an order from Kendriya Vidyalaya for providing over 8,000 HP branded desktops for over Rs 55 Crore. Having a nationwide presence, Iris Computers shipped PCs across many of Kendriya Vidyalaya schools including those situated in far flung locations in the North-East and remote areas of Andaman & Nicobar islands.
Sanjeev Krishen, Founder & CMD, Iris Computers, said, “This demand for computers have suddenly come up in view of the introduction of online education so that the children should not lose their academic year in view of the COVID-19 pandemic”. “We’ve been given the task of delivering desktops to various destinations in the country, something we accomplished well before the deadline”, added Krishen.
Old tie-up with Kendriya Vidyalaya
Working with hundreds of channel partners spread across the country, Iris Computers focuses on an array of business verticals including education. So, be it K-12 schools, private coaching institutes, colleges, universities or specialized education institutions, Iris Computers provides wide portfolios of servers, storage, UPS systems, networking gears and PCs among other products to them.
Earlier, Iris Computers shipped thousands of PCs to Andhra Pradesh (AP) School Education Department. The company also provided tables to educate institutions in India. However, Iris Commuters has a history of working with Kendriya Vidyalaya schools in the country, where it had supplied huge number PCs to them. A few years back, Iris Computers supplied thousands of PCs to this central school establishment. The education sector has been one of its strong forte. Now, the old relationship with KVs has brought in new order for supplying 8,000 desktops.
“We play a vital role in effecting the modernization of the country. We feel elated by being part of the nation building endeavours”, said Krishen.
