Digital Edge Bureau 18 Sep, 2024 0 comment(s)Finally, the second leg of the caravan of VeeamON Tour India reaches Delhi from Bengaluru on 28th August 2024. The objective of Veeam Software’s three leg sojourn is to spread awareness on data resiliency among enterprises & organizations in the country. VeeamON Tour India was kicked off on 21st August 2024 from Bengaluru. The Veeam’s caravan would culminate in Mumbai on 19th September 2024. The ongoing VeeamON Tour India carries the much-touted Bharat Cyber Suraksha Campaign, which focuses on techniques and technologies for defending data back up against ransomware attacks.
The Delhi event has witnessed a large and enthusiastic participation by government representatives, CXOs, technology leaders and enterprise channel partners as well as technology vendors with which Veeam maintains tech collaborated such as Intel, HP Enterprise, Lenovo, Exagrid, Microsoft and Red Hat. Dr Saurabh Gupta, Advisor, Technology, National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID), Government of India, graced the event as its chief guest.
Addressing the audience, Dr Gupta of NATGRID put a concerted stress on the inviolability of classifying data as per their criticality so that prioritized data is protected under credible resiliency umbrella. “Assured data backup and recovery executed in secured environment is the call of the hour. I’m happy that Veeam has taken the initiatives through the VeeamON Tour India in making enterprises & organizations further aware of and smart on protecting their valuable data,” said Dr Gupta.
During the VeeamON Tour India, the company has also unveiled a white paper on how to defend against ransomware. The whitepaper carries the techniques, technologies and best practices while protecting backed data against ransomware. The white paper very much aligns with the guidelines formulated in the DPDP Act enacted by the Indian parliament in the latter half of 2023. The DPDP Act gets heavy inspiration from EU’s GDPR. By releasing the whitepaper, Veeam champions comprehensive ransomware containment and mitigation strategies.
Quite recently, Veeam has been ranked number-1 by Gartner in its market share analysis titled ‘enterprise backup and recovery software, worldwide, 2023. According to the report Veeam notched up 15.1 percent global marketshare with a commensurate revenue accrual of $1.5 Billion in 2023. Veeam has also been recognized as a Leader in the 2023 Gartner Magic Quadrant for enterprise backup and recovery software solutions.
Interestingly, for Veeam, Asia-Pacific (APAC) has become one of the rapidly growing markets in the world. And within APAC region, India has emerged as the fastest growing country. Offering a wide portfolio of data backup and recovery products & solutions, Veeam has established itself as the frontline data protection company here in India.
“We’re incredibly proud to lead the global charge in data resilience. As India continues to emerge as a technological hub, our goal is to raise awareness about the critical importance of data resilience in an evolving threat landscape,” said Sandeep Bhambure, VP & MD, Veeam Software, India & SAARC.

Through this year’s VeeamON Tour India and Cyber Suraksha Campaign, we aim to share our vision for the future of data resilience in a Digital Bharat and educate our community on combating security threats”, added Bhambure.
Ransomware continues to pose a significant threat to organizations, being the leading cause of IT outages and downtime. According to the 2024 Veeam Ransomware Trends Report, 41 percent of data is compromised during a cyberattack. VeeamON Tour India, tailored specifically for backup and recovery professionals, is designed to enhance their skills, provide insights into protecting businesses from ransomware, and facilitate the sharing of industry knowledge. The event featured exclusive content from partners like Microsoft, ExaGrid, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Lenovo and Red Hat offering valuable resources and strategies to combat this ongoing threat.
Also, in collaboration with Microsoft and Women in Cloud, Veeam India organized the #WICxSkillsReady Challenge at the event, a program designed to upskill over 1,000 professionals in AI and cybersecurity, preparing them for DevSecOps roles. The initiative responds to the growing demand for AI and cybersecurity skills, as highlighted by the 2024 work trend index and a reported shortage of cybersecurity professionals in India.
The Delhi event also featured deep-dives into data resilience, Copilot & AI, data protection & M365 backup, veeam data cloud (VDC), diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and collaboration & partnerships, all integrated into solution-oriented roundtable discussions. These continued the event’s aim to equip professionals with the right skills to protect businesses from ransomware and foster a deep understanding of industry trends that chart the way forward for cyber resilience.
