Supertron Group has ventured into the field of storage drive services by taking the majority stake in the Gurgaon-based Restore Lab
In a new development, Kolkata-based Supertron Group, one of India’s leading IT distributors, has forayed into the field of storage drive services by taking the majority stake in the Gurgaon-based Restore Lab, a company founded and run by the storage industry veteran, Sharad Srivastava, who earlier headed the operations of Seagate, and later on, Western Digital (WD) in India & SAARC region.
Over the years, Restore Lab has emerged as the leading company offering repairing and refurbishing services around HDDs (hard disk drives) and SSDs (solid state drives). The company also offers data recovery services to enterprises & organizations. So, the decision of Supertron to acquire the majority stake in ReStor Lab is a well thought step as it (Supertron) is one of the leading distributors of storage products in India. Now, with this acquisition, Supertron is in a position to offer repairing and refurbishing services of HDDs and SSDs to the larger IT industry in the country.

Sharad Srivastava, Founder & CEO, ReStor Lab, said, “We started with customers’ needs of refurbishing out-of-warranty HDDs. “A hard disk is the most fragile part of any computer. Even a free fall from 2 inches height on a hard surface can kill the drive. Out-of-warranty drives are considered junk in India, and badly mishandled. However, majority of drives can be repaired if handled properly. A proper and careful handling of HDDs can improve the possibility of drive reparability, and thus, profitability of customers,” explained Srivastava.

“Today, ReStor Lab is the only ISO 9001 certified facility in India which can repair, recertify and resize HDDs. By now, we’ve processed more than 8,00,000 drives. Over the years, we’ve added SSD repair facilities also. We also provide data recovery services to customer of HDDs and SSDs”, said Srivastava. “We’re very excited to be the part of Supertron Group of companies. Now, we will add services and refurbishment of more and more storage products and sub-assemblies to our portfolio, which will benefit our customers,” accentuated Srivastava.
