Lenovo expands its footprints in India, to open 100 more Exclusive Stores in FY 2021-22
Digital Edge Bureau 12 Feb, 2021 0 comment(s)To the amazement of the IT industry, the pandemic afflicted months of 2020 proved to be good for PCs and mobile devices markets in India. Most of the vendors have registered encouraging quarterly results with respect to their increasing unit shipments, a fact that is a soothing balm for them in otherwise a turbulent world.
So, emboldened by the prospects around PCs and mobile devices in the receding COVID days, Lenovo has taken the decision for opening up another 100 exclusive stores in different parts of India. Once those planned 100 LES (Lenovo Exclusive Store) become operational, the total number of exclusive stores would rise to 500. In fact, this comes as an addition to their recent opening of the 400th LES in Bengaluru as part of its effort to continue offline retail expansion during the pandemic.
“With the consumer business growing at a rapid pace of 45 percent YoY in Lenovo in FY 2021, it was imperative to continue our offline retail expansion to reach customers to cater to their LFH (learn-from-home) and WFH (work-from-home) needs. We’re delighted to share that in FY 2021, we opened 100 LES, and with our 400th LES in Bengaluru, our offline footprint has reached 10,000 and our revenue contribution for the consumer business is around 18 – 20 percent. We look forward to adding another 100 LES in our offline retail business in the coming financial year and take the premium user experience of our 400th LES to several more stores”, said Rahul Agarwal, MD, and CEO, Lenovo India.

As an industry first for the PC brand, Lenovo completely digitized the customer journey in LES and introduced an Offline-to-Online (O2O) model enabling customers to complete their purchase on Lenovo.com if the product is not in stock in the stores. Additionally, during the lockdown – Lenovo introduced a 100 percent contactless purchase model for customers keeping their employees and customers safety in mind.
This expansion plan of 100 additional LES includes metros, Tier-I, and Tier-II cities across India ensuring that their services and products are available across the nation while also generating more employment opportunities in the country. These LES host extensive range of electronics and computer hardware from Lenovo, including the brand’s flagship PCs such as the Legion Series, ThinkBook Series and Yoga Series among others.
With these 400 LES, Lenovo has generated 2,000 jobs across India with each store employing nearly five personnel. As per a Q3 FY 2021 study by InMOBI, Lenovo exclusive stores ranked the highest with a 71 percent customer satisfaction score. So, there is a definitive social impact behind the growing footprints of Lenovo in India.
