Kaspersky Lab’s newly appointed MD for APAC region focuses on healthcare sector
Digital Edge Bureau 31 Jan, 2021 0 comment(s)For Kaspersky Lab, APAC (Asia-Pacific) region has always been on its agenda, where the great Russian company keeps its operations realigned and truly motivated for addressing emerging market segments with quality security software products & services – buttressed by sensible leadership. Quite recently, Kaspesky Lab has given this mandate to Chris Connell, who takes up the helm of being the Managing Director (MD) for the APAC region.
Connell is a keen and a smart strategist, who has identified healthcare as one of the hot sectors that desperately seeks effective security solutions for thwarting cyber attacks unleashed by crime syndicates, and even by state-actors. The COVID-19 has hugely exposed the healthcare sector to the nefarious designs of cyber criminals. Chris is expected to lend his expertise to shore up the cyber-resilience of APAC’s healthcare institutions. Also, he looks to further develop and continue the growth in both, commercial and enterprise cybersecurity, with a strong focus on threat intelligence for industry partners in the digital economy, as well as small and medium businesses (SMBs).
His appointment comes at a pivotal moment for the cybersecurity ecosystem in the region, where sector spending is projected to hit $28.2 Billion by 2022. Data breaches have become increasingly commonplace in the region, with incidents of patient records being stolen from group healthcare institutions, and privacy lapses suffered by tech giants such as online shopping and transportation companies, all occurring over the past year.
“I’m excited to take up this new leadership role in a region where cybersecurity trends are dynamic but also diverse in terms of needs and development”, says Connell. “While we will continue to deliver tailor-made cybersecurity solutions for both businesses and consumers, it is equally important that we pivot away from the traditional and reactive seek-and-destroy approach to an all-encompassing concept of cyber-immunity – building an ecosystem where everything connected is protected and secure by design”, views Connell.
Evgeniya Naumova, Vice President, Global Sales Network, Kaspersky Lab, says, “True cybersecurity cannot be achieved in a silo, and the key to building a cybersecurity ecosystem that breaks free from the constraints of operating in different silos is one that is built on integrated and collaborative operations. I’m confident that Chris’ wealth of expertise and thorough understanding of global cybersecurity trends will help to build a safer and more transparent environment for all in APAC”.
