Acquisition of India’s VAAG Systems allows NETGEAR develop AI & cloud enabled network software at Chennai R&D center

Aimed at harnessing the Indian software expertise, NETGEAR Inc., one of the world’s leading networking products companies, has acquired VAAG Systems, a Chennai-based provider of embedded systems and software solutions, for evolving more of AI and cloud-based intelligent software platforms that would run sophisticated networking gears for today’s SMEs (small and medium enterprises) and large enterprises.
Along with the acquisition, NETGEAR gets the access to the R&D facility of VAAG Systems located at Chennai, which houses an army of well-trained software engineers, who now would contribute on various AI-enabled and cloud-optimized next generation networking solutions.
Sudarsan Vasudevan, CEO, VAAG Systems, has joined NETGEAR as its VP of software to lead the operations of the India team and over the next 12 to 18 months NETGEAR plans to rapidly expand the engineering team in Chennai by more than 100 employees.

This investment allows NETGEAR to accelerate the in-sourcing of a software development capability and this team will form the foundation of NETGEAR’s new Chennai-based software development facility. This new team brings a wealth of industry expertise with experience from companies such as Qualcomm, HP, Cisco, and MaxLinear and will focus on leveraging AI to simplify networking for the small and medium enterprise.
